Announcing SHS’s New Head Volleyball Coach
Silverton High School is pleased to announce that Linda Riedman has been selected as the new Head Volleyball Coach. After the recent announcement of the resignation of Coach Jill Walker, the search for a new coach became a priority for the Silverton Athletic Department going into the summer. The Foxes feel that Riedman is the perfect fit for this program and department.
Coach Riedman will bring a fresh look to this position. Though the majority of her coaching and playing career was on the basketball court, she was an All-State volleyball player for the Foxes in the early 90’s as well. What emerged as the strength of Linda’s candidacy was her commitment to growing kids first. She has stressed over and over again the values of character, integrity, academia, hard work, discipline and teamwork. Her experiences as an athlete and a coach at the highest collegiate level will serve as a strong foundation for teaching these values to the Foxes volleyball team.
Linda is a 1993 graduate of Silverton High School, where she earned a number of athletic honors for volleyball, basketball and track & field. After high school she attended Santa Clara University on a full-ride basketball scholarship and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Upon finishing her career at Santa Clara, Coach Riedman was named the graduate assistant coach for the University of Portland women’s basketball program. She earned the honor of National Graduate Assistant of the Year in this role. After completing her graduate degree in Business (MBA), Coach Riedman began working in the professional field of public relations, where she has spent the last 17 years. More recently, she has discovered the love of Equus Coaching (the process of self-discovery through the guidance of horses). Silverton High School feels fortunate that she is back home and eager to contribute to the growth of the students in our community. She is extremely dedicated and committed to maximizing Silverton High School student athletes’ potential both on and off the court.
We are excited to see the growth of our program under Linda’s leadership. Please join us in congratulating Coach Riedman on this exciting opportunity.
