Silverton High School is proud to announce that Derek McElfresh has been selected as the new Head Boys Soccer Coach at Silverton High School. Coach McElfresh will be taking over for Kyle Calder, who guided the program for the past 3 years.

Coach McElfresh brings a wealth of teaching, playing and coaching experience to the position. Beyond this, he is a firm believer in the core values of high school athletics. Coach McElfresh stresses “The ability to work hard — to run farther than you think you can, faster than you thought you could, to work with a team of people whose eyes are all focused on the same goal (both physically and metaphorically speaking), these are the skills soccer teaches, and the ones my players will leave with at the end of their four years.”

Coach McElfresh’s most recent head coaching experience was at Silverton as the girls coach from 2006-2008. The girls program flourished under his leadership, earning playoff berths during each of the 3 seasons. Derek is currently serving as the Silver Falls School District Assessment and Communications Coordinator and Silverton High School yearbook advisor. He is extremely dedicated to the growth and development of Silverton High School students and athletes.

We are excited to have Coach McElfresh leading our soccer program.
