Dear Class of 2020 and Parents:

We realize there is a lot here. As this is not a conventional ceremony that we can plan, practice for, and execute with internal personnel, we are relying on students and parents to take a lot of responsibility for how this goes off. Please read all.

We are excited to be putting this celebration on to honor the Class of 2020. Since the last email that was sent out, there have been some questions that have come up, and a conversation with representatives at ODE, that have required us to make one small adjustment to our plan for graduation and to reinforce our requirements for this event. The adjustment will be for us to move the location from the front of the school to the area between the North and South lots of the school. As warm weather and length of the ceremony could be an issue, we need to make sure that cars that are in our lot are able to have windows rolled down while present. Per ODE Guidance for Graduation Ceremonies, as long as there is a car length (one parking space) between cars, windows can be rolled down, provided all people in the car are wearing face coverings. We realize this is not ideal. However, this guidance is handed down by the state and we are required to follow it in order to maintain the safety of everyone present. It has also been suggested to move the ceremony to 6pm in order to account for possible warmer weather.

Please note that the Guidelines for Graduation look different from guidelines in place for the reopening of counties. As the school and district are agencies of the state, we are required to follow and enforce these guidelines.

Graduation Plan 2020

Cords/Medals/other graduation adornments pick-up: On Friday, May 29th, from 11am-3pm, graduation adornments will be handed out at the front entrance of the school. Please come by and pick these up at your convenience during these times.

One Car Restriction: Due to the adjustment in our Commencement Ceremony, we must have a strict limit of one car per graduate. If a graduate needs more than one car, we can accommodate a limited number of extra cars on campus but these would not be in view of the ceremony. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we have limited space to work with.

Planning to Leave Early? If you plan to leave the ceremony right after you/your graduate receives their diploma, please let us know. The first 40 graduates/families to email Shawna Snyder at, will be staged early, not assigned a parking spot, and will be the first names called for the ceremony. Please note: if you choose this option, you will not be guaranteed to be walking near someone you requested if they are not making the same request to leave early.

Do You Need a Car? Please contact Wade Lockett so that we can make arrangements.

We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2020 safely and responsibly. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
