PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR TO SWAB YOUR CHEEK, JOIN THE STEM CELL REGISTRY & SAVE SOMEONE’S LIFE!

Many of us may know someone with leukemia. To be cured, people with Leukemia need a stem cell transplant as soon as possible. Unfortunately, surviving siblings are only suitable matches about 30% of the time. Then, patients must find a match from the national stem cell registry. Sign up now!

WHO:  Anyone, in generally good health, ages 18 to 40

WHAT:  “Be The Match” will be hosting a Stem Cell Drive Sign-Up inspired by one local resident who is currently needing a match.  Paul Kuenzi is a 1994 graduate of Silverton High School, a native of Silverton; Husband, Dad of 4 kids, Son, Brother, Uncle, Coach, and Friend.  #PKStrong

WHEN:  Saturday, April 23, 2022

WHERE: 

  • Gear-Up Coffee Shop in Silverton – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Dan and Annie will have hot coffee there to treat you! 
  • Pratum School –  8:00 am to 10:00 am. During school breakfast fundraiser
  • Victor Point School – 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Immediately following the Victor Point Run for the Hills 1M/5/10/15K
  • Ratchet Brewery – 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. During Scotts Mills PTCC fundraiser

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO:

  1. Bring your phone
  2. Scan with the QR code provided or text “Pkstrong” to 61474 
  3. Self-administer a cheek swab, place the swab in an envelope, and give it to a volunteer 

WHAT IF I WANT TO SIGN UP BUT CAN NOT COME TO THE DRIVE:

  • Sign up on the website at bethematch.org, and a kit will be mailed to you
  • If you are age 40-55, sign up at dkms.org and a kit will be mailed to you 

WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY SAMPLE?

When you sign up, you will be joining the entire stem cell registry; so if you are not able to help a specific loved one, you may be able to help someone else!

WHAT IF I DO NOT MEET THE AGE REQUIREMENTS?
