Silver Falls School District has selected Andy Jones as the new Athletic Director-Assistant Principal for Silverton High School. His first day will be in early August, replacing James Rise. His selection followed a rigorous selection process including a writing assessment; an initial interview; a case study analysis presentation; a town hall meeting with SHS staff, and multiple interviews with high school and district leadership team members.

“I am very excited about joining the Silver Falls District and High School Team,” says Jones. “I am looking forward to serving the district, SHS staff, students, coaches and Silverton Community.”

Jones is a veteran educator with 28 years of experience. He both taught and served as Athletic Director for Mt. Angel and at Mark Twain Middle School, served as an Athletic Director and Associate Principal in both North Marion and Oregon City, and coached basketball for over 15 years. Jones was the OSAA 4A Athletic Director of the Year in 2012 and the OSAA 6A Athletic Director of the Year in 2022.

“We are excited for Andrew Jones to join Silverton as the next Assistant Principal-Athletic Director,” said SHS Principal Sione Thompson. “Jones has a passion for building strong educational experiences and positive relationships. As a Silverton alum, Class of ʻ78, and longtime resident of the community we welcome him back home.”
