Our HOSA (Future Health Professionals) Club will host the American Red Cross for the final Blood Drive of the 2023-24 school year. We invite you to participate in our drive and hope you will invite family and friends, too. An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood or platelets, but less than 10% donate each year. If you are healthy and eligible, please come out to donate. All donated units will be used in the next 40 days and are critical to save lives.

Please spread the word!

The blood drive will be located in the small gym. You can enter the Gym Entrance (the western entrance nearest the gyms) and proceed directly to our drive. Feel free to park in any open parking spot. Individuals must be at least 16 years old to participate in the blood drive. If a person is 16, they will need a permission slip (linked here) signed by a parent or guardian.

Why donate? Here are just a few reasons your donation is needed:

  • Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and or platelets.
  • One donation can help save more than one life.
  • Blood and platelets cannot be manufactured; they can only come from volunteer donors.
  • The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately 3 units; A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 units of blood.
  • According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1.6 million people were diagnosed with cancer in 2023. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment.
