  • Local Scholarship Information night for Class of 2022: Monday, December 6th at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium. Come in and hear information about our Local Scholarship opportunities. A chance to speak with some representatives and pick up early applications! See Mrs. White or Mrs. Chorazy in the Counseling Center if you have any questions!Seniors! Your senior photos are due December 10th! See the website for submission details.

  • The Eagles (Las Aguilas) club will meet during the AG period on Monday, December 6th. Please remember to check in with your AG teacher and join us in room A212.
  • If you missed the Theatre meeting last night, see Mr. O for Audition information today or Monday after school. The auditions for the murder mystery: CLUE begin on Tuesday, December 7th. Anyone and everyone may audition!
  • Let’s see some F O X Spirit at the AG assembly today! Our winter sports are off to an awesome start! A couple of highlights:
    • SWIM: Junior Catherine Hyde continues to tear it up in the pool, recording another SCHOOL RECORD yesterday at the Kroc Center, with a 1:00.64 in the 100-yard Butterfly event. Congratulations Catherine!
    • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Although falling Wednesday night to (early ranked) #5 Jesuit High School (6A) in an exciting double overtime game, 51-53, our Foxes know how to come out fighting hard in their first game of the season. A true sign of exciting games to come that you won’t want to miss!

December 1, 2021

  • Hey Foxes! This is the last week for Tree of Giving Fundraising and we have a few fundraisers left to finish it off. The coin drive lasts til Friday, Macho Volleyball is this Thursday at 5:45, and lastly, a dash for cash at the assembly on Friday followed by cookie decorating which could be before or after the assembly depending on which assembly you go to. Please help us get to our goal and bring your wallets!
  • For those of you who have NOT heard (WHAT?!?!), Foxes Football took home the OSAA State 5A Title on Saturday, defeating Thurston High School 26-20 in an exciting match-up! Congratulations players, Coach Craig, and all the assistant coaches!
  • Winter season sports begin this week with our first contests:
    • Come out tonight to watch our Lady Foxes Basketball teams play here in our home gym; JV and JV2 start at 6:00 pm and Varsity begins at 7:30. Concessions will be open with snacks and hot food. Come watch the battle versus Jesuit High School Crusaders!
    • Tomorrow night our Swim team heads to the Kroc Center in Salem/Keizer for their first meet, and our Wrestlers travel to Central High School. Boys basketball begin their season at home next Tuesday versus ……. Thurston High School!

  • If you are wanting to participate in girls basketball, tryouts start Monday, November 15th, at 4:00 pm in the big gym. Make sure you are cleared with Mrs. Martinson in the Athletics Office before then. If you have any questions or need a calendar Coach Ogle or Mrs. Martinson can help.
  • Congratulations to the Speech Team for dipping their toes into online competition this past weekend! All of our Foxes did a great job, but special congrats are due to Toni Ortiz-Martinez for getting speeches in her first ever Student Congress; to Cordelia Bay, for coming in 4th in Novice Poetry; and to Faith Klopfenstein for finishing on the podium in 3rd place in Novice Oratory! The Future of Silverton Speech and Debate is looking bright!
  • FBLA Meeting is TOMORROW (Tuesday) right after school in room C132 – 3:50-4:20 pm. Very important to attend if you are thinking of competing this year!

  • REMINDER: NO SCHOOL TOMORROW AND FRIDAY.
  • Reminder: Blue Bins in the hallways are not garbage cans; they are for cans and bottle recycling. Please help us make the job of picking them up more pleasant by only putting cans and bottles in the bins. Our Blue Bin recycling helps fund CTE national qualifiers.
  • FOX FANS!!!! Our Football team takes on #7 ranked North Salem this Friday night at McGinnis Field, 7:00 pm. This is the quarterfinal playoff game and we’ve done well to be able to host the past couple of games. After this Friday night, all games will be played at a neutral site, TBD. $5.00 student tickets can be purchased at the gate, or go online to www.osaa.org/tickets to get your digital ticket. Let’s Go!!!
  • Get your Apple Cider Slushie (made with REAL EZ Orchards Cider) at the Fox Shop during 1st or 2nd lunch while supplies last! This seasonal beverage will no longer be available after Wednesday, November 17th!
  • Don’t forget – Today during both lunches in the mian gym there the Fall Carnival is taking place. This is a Tree of Giving fundraiser. There will be games, cupcakes, donuts, and pumpkins. The entry fee will be $5.

  • Due to the fact that there is no school on Friday, the next GSA meeting will be on December 6. Keep an eye out for an announcements about where we will be meeting when we get closer to the date!
  • The Elks Club ‘Most Valuable Student’ scholarship is due Monday, November 15th! Make sure you have completed your online application on time! See Silverton High School’s scholarship opportunities website under the student tab for more information and how to apply.

  • Seniors: Jostens will be here tomorrow and Wednesday during both lunches to orders for you cap and gown, and other class items.
  • Senior Apprenticeship Students: Check your email and get signed up for tomorrow’s virtual industry tour. Apprenticeship Day starts at 8a:00 m. If you have questions, see Dr. Barnes in C133.

  • Congratulations to Boys Soccer for their heroic efforts on Saturday, losing to #1 ranked La Salle High School 0-1 in the state quarterfinals. What a great season, Foxes!
  • Football moves on to quarterfinals after their win on Friday night, defeating McKay HS. We will again be hosting the game this Friday, versus North Salem, at McGinnis Field @ 7:00 pm. Get your student ticket at the gate, or go online to OSAA Tickets. GO FOXES!!!!
  • Interested student athletes: This is the last week to get all your registrations requirements done in RegisterMyAthlete for Boys or Girls Basketball, Swimming, or Boys or Girls Wrestling. Practice and tryouts begin Monday, Nov. 15th. You cannot participate if you do not have a complete registration! See Mrs. Martinson ASAP if you have questions.
  • SHS’s Fall Blood Drive will be taking place tomorrow from 8 am – 2 pm. Every donation has the potential to save three lives by Christmas! If you are 16 and older, you are eligible to donate. You can sign up on the form – https://forms.gle/NAQ6FnzueJKk8ftZ6, a Red Cross Club member or in C133
  • Potential NHS members: the deadline for National Honor Society applications is Thursday, November 11th at midnight. Please see Mrs. Bay in room A202 if you have any questions.
  • FFA and FBLA would like to invite you to a Fall Get Together tonight at the Schurter Family Barn! Location: 5174 Shannon Rd NE Silverton, OR 97381. Everyone is invited! We will be having a potluck, and Mrs. Miles will be teaching country line and swing dancing! Arrive at 6:30 pm to attend the FFA monthly meeting or at 7:00 pm for food and dancing! Bring food or drink to share!

TREE OF GIVING EVENTS

  • Spelling Bee -November 8th ASB is putting on a spelling bee this year as a part of the Tree of Giving fundraiser! It will take place during AG on Monday, November 8th, in the Auditorium. If you’d like to participate, it costs $5 to sign up, with the sign-up sheet outside the ASB room. You can pay at the door. There will be an individual prize for the winner as well as a class spirit point. If you’d like to spectate, it will cost $1 at the door.
  • Fall Carnival – November 10th Hey Foxes! For the Tree of Giving, ASB is having a Fall Carnival Fundraiser on Wednesday, November 10th, during both lunches in the main gym. There will be games, cupcakes, donuts, and pumpkins. The entry fee will be $5, and all proceeds will go to the Tree of Giving fundraiser.
  • AG Bingo Competition Fundraiser – November 15th Hey Foxes, the Tree of Giving AG Bingo Competition will take place on Monday, November 15th, in the SHS Commons. Each AG will be given a form to sign up for your AG. Collect money, fill out the form, and purchase bingo cards from the Bookkeeper. Then send your AG Bingo Team down to the Commons on Friday, November 12th at 11:30. The AG that wins the most Bingos will win an AG Roth’s donut party and bragging rights too. Small prizes will also be given to each bingo! We look forward to seeing you there!
  • AG Mario Kart Competition Fundraiser – November 15th & 17th Foxes, the AG Mario Kart Competition is coming soon! Each AG teacher will be given a form to sign up your AG. Choose one person to represent and compete for your AG. $10 is the admission fee and will also allow 2 people from your AG to watch the competition. It will take place in the Auditorium. Please note the corrected dates. These are wrong on the Mario Kart AG Form as well. Freshman and Junior participants will be competing against each other on Monday, November, 15th during AG. Sophomores and Seniors will be competing against each other on Wednesday, November 17th, during AG. Then the winners of each day will go on to compete on Friday, November 19th, during AG. VIP tickets are available for $2, but the VIP tickets are limited; the faster you get them, the better! The winning AG will win a Roth’s donut party. The overall winner will also earn an individual prize. Again, use the form given to your AG teacher, collect money in your AG, and then turn in your form and money to the Bookkeeper. All proceeds go to the Tree of Giving!
  • Macho Volleyball – December 2nd The biggest Tree of Giving Fundraiser is approaching, Macho Volleyball. This event will be taking place Thursday, December 2nd. The first game will start at 5:45 pm. Teams must consist of 6-8 people. The fee to play is $15 per player and includes a t-shirt. Admission to come to watch is $3. All profits go towards the Tree of Giving fundraiser. Forms to sign up are outside of the ASB room! Payment and forms must be turned in to the Bookkeeper. All forms are due by Monday, November 15th.

  • FFA and FBLA would like to invite you (yes, everyone!) to a Fall Get Together on Monday, November 8th at the Schurter Family Barn! Location: 5174 Shannon Rd NE Silverton, OR 97381. We will be having a potluck and Mrs. Miles will be teaching country line and swing dancing! Arrive at 6:30pm to attend the FFA monthly meeting OR 7:00pm for food and dancing!   • Athletic Registration for Winter Sports must be completed by November 15th. Wrestlers, Swimmers, and basketball players – visit the Register my Ahtlete link on our website. Please see Mrs. Martinson in the Athletic Department if you have questions.

  • Most of the Student Body cards from the October 13 retake have arrived! Please stop by and see the bookkeeper before/after school, lunch or during passing times.
  • Class of 2022 – the OSAC application opens November 1st. There are 600+ scholarship opportunities for Oregon students. Go to this website and see which ones you qualify for: https://app.oregonstudentaid.gov/
  • Interact Club has a work meeting on Thursday at 8:00 am. Please come to Mrs. Bahr’s room, A200, to get our cards ready to send to different places for Veterans’ Day.

  • Congratulations to both our Volleyball and Girls Soccer teams whose seasons ended last night. The Soccer girls traveled to North Eugene to battle valiantly against their #3 ranked team. Volleyball also faced a #3 ranked Crescent Valley for the 3rd time this season, having beat them once in regular season but losing in an extremely tough and close match last night in the C.V. home gym. Congratulations girls for your great season and all your efforts on and off the field!
  • Tonight! Our Boys Soccer team hosts Ridgeview High School in Round 1 of the State Championships at McGinnis Field at 5:30 pm! Come out and support our Foxes! To pre-purchase your ticket online ($5.00), go to https://www.osaa.org/shop/tickets, or scan the QR code outside Mrs. Martinson’s office. Tickets will also be sold at the gate, and the concession stand will be open!
