Dear SHS Drivers!!!! This is a long announcement. Please pay attention. Silverton High School is committed to maintaining a safe environment for our students, staff, community members and guests. Whether on campus or off, we want to represent this school and community in the most positive way possible. This said, over the past several months we have received some calls into the school regarding our traffic on Western and Grant and even out onto James St. Some of this is associated with excessive speeds, some with running stop signs, and others regarding generally unsafe driving with pedestrians present. Please know that this stuff is watched closely by our neighbors who want a safe neighborhood for themselves and their families. We have recently hired Ms. Martinez as a traffic and campus monitor. You can see her picture on the screens around campus. She will be monitoring these areas, as well as the parking lots and commons during the school day. Any safety issues will be reported and addressed. Also, beginning Thursday, April 26th, we will be closing the gates between the north and south parking lots before and after school. This will be done to control the flow and balance of traffic on both Western Ave. and Pine St. Very Important: If you enter the school lot on Kromminga, you will not be able to get to the North Parking Lot (by the tennis courts). If you enter the school lot on Western, you will not be able to get to the South Parking Lot (by the softball field). This will also be true when you are leaving. If you park in the South Lot, you will have to leave out Kromminga. Please make sure our driving practices are safe and we are representing this school and community in a First Class manner. Thank you Mr. Lockett
